Three people have died and a child is in a critical condition in
hospital after a house fire in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called to the house on South Street, in Highfield, Doncaster, South Yorkshire, at around 12.30am.
Extensive police inquiries are being carried out to discover the cause of the fire, and they are appealing for witnesses.
A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: "Three occupants of the address died due to the incident.
"One occupant is currently in a critical condition and is detained in Sheffield Children's Hospital."
A South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said the casualties were all members of the same family.
Firefighters
were called to the house by a neighbour and found all four people - a
man, a woman and two young children - upstairs in the mid-terraced
house.
They were taken to hospital, where the two adults and one of the children were pronounced dead.
The spokesman said the fire was on the ground floor of the house and was not thought to be suspicious at this stage.
